Durston Saylor has an accomplished career photographing fine design, architecture and environmental artwork. As a contributing photographer on the masthead of Architectural Digest for eighteen years he has photographed the homes of many prominent public figures including Ralph and Ricci Lauren, Martin Scorsese, Giorgio Armani, Madonna, John Travolta and Kelly Preston, Calvin Klein, Donna Karan, Gerard Butler, as well as the residence of the Vice President of the United States.
In addition, his photographs have appeared in over fifty books on architecture and interior design including monographs on the firms of Robert A.M. Stern, Gwathmey Seigel and Associates, Michael Graves and Partners, David Easton, and Cullman & Kravis and Fairfax and Sammons. His work also appears in The New York Times, Time, Architectural Record, and Architecture Magazine.
He is currently in production on a book on the designer, Thomas Pheasant with author, Jeff Turrentine, as well as continuing with ongoing photography of Italian modernist architecture between the world wars.
His clients also include many of the fine hotels including The Four Seasons, The Mandarin Oriental, The Plaza Hotel, The St. Regis Hotel, The Ritz Carlton, and The Carlyle. Exceptional design assignments with The American Academy in Rome, The Brooklyn Academy of Music, The World Financial Center Winter Garden, and The U.S. Department of State are highlights of his portfolio.
